It’s been years in the making.
Even before fall 2021, when University of Iowa Health Care leaders were joined by Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds and other state officials at a breaking-ground ceremony to mark the start of construction of a medical center campus in North Liberty, Iowa, the message was clear: Iowans needed, and expected, greater access to UI Health Care services.
Patients and referring physicians across the state trusted the collaboration and expertise of UI Health Care providers. Medical students, resident and fellow physicians, and other health professions learners relied on the experience and mentorship of Carver College of Medicine faculty and staff. And community and business leaders throughout the Iowa City-Coralville-North Liberty-Cedar Rapids corridor welcomed the job opportunities, economic impact, and community-strengthening potential that a new medical campus outside of the university campus could bring.
With the North Liberty campus now open, let’s take a closer look at the medical center and services available.

Full scope of orthopedics care
The North Liberty campus includes orthopedic clinical and surgical services across the complete range of musculoskeletal subspecialties.

Emergency, imaging, and pharmacy to serve all Iowans
The North Liberty campus includes an emergency department that sees patients of all ages with the same types of emergent conditions treated at UI Health Care’s university and downtown campuses.

Serving the community, state, region
With its April 28 opening, the North Liberty campus joins UI Health Care’s university and downtown campuses in establishing a three-campus system of care.
